THE VINEYARD
Dutton Ranch farms more than 80 separate vineyards in the Russian River Valley. Our vineyards are certified Sonoma County Sustainable Farm Friendly. The 14+ acre Green Valley Girls Vineyard was planted in the mid 1990s and lies within the northwest limits of the town of Graton in the Green Valley sub-appellation of the Russian River Valley. The gently sloping west to east vineyard is planted to various clones, but only 777 is used in Green Valley Girls.
THE WINEMAKING
The fruit from our Campbell Vineyard was hand-picked at night for optimal acidity levels. Green Valley Girls was cold-soaked for 3 days and punched down once daily during fermentation. Once fermentation was complete, the wine was moved to French oak barrels, 75% new. This is an increase in the amount of new oak, which resulted in a beautiful addition of baking spices on the nose and palate.
TASTING NOTES
This Pinot Noir is a bold ruby in the glass. Aromas of strawberry rhubarb pie to vanilla to baking spices like clove and cinnamon follow through to a fruit driven palate. Pleasant on its own, Green Valley Girls is wonderfully balanced wine that is both smooth and rich. With barely there tannins, it would also match well with classic food pairings such as salmon, chicken, or pasta dishes.
